The tradition continues! An eclectic collection of stories, some fiction, some taken from life (but fictionalized) by members of the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group (glvwg.org.) Scary, serious, inspirational, funny -- these tales will transport you to other places, other times, or maybe just to your own back yard. Includes poetry and essays by our members.

This anthology, to which I am a contributor of a short story, is an eclectic mix of stories, poems, and essays. Although at the outset I believed I was heading straight for a three-star review, as I continued it became clear that there were more gems in this book than lumps of coal.Restricting myself to evaluating solely the short stories, I think that the majority were relatively interesting pieces that were competently written. There were some standout pieces that far exceeded that assessment such as “Compromise,” “O’Hare,” “Blister,” “Change for Domenick,” and “Evening,” this last being the most exquisitely written piece in the anthology.
The clunkers are “Locker 33C,” “A Short History of the Counter Monks,” “The Girl sits on the Hard Ground,” and “Love Blossoms—The Business at Hand,” this last being so incoherent and poorly written, that its inclusion casts a pall on the entire anthology.
Although I was doubtful at first that an anthology of stories without a common thematic thread would be a good idea, I soon found that it was quite interesting to finish one story and then move on to the next without any expectations whatever. All in all, the setup worked. A commendable effort.

What an enjoyable read! The poetry section is especially wonderful to read aloud and share with others.
